Choose Life

I love the fact that God gives us choices. He sets the future in front of us and asks us to choose. blessing or cursing, life or death. I feel that so many people feel stuck in the rut that they are in but God tells US to choose!

When it comes to food choices again we have to choose - I like how Todd White of Lifestyle Christianity describes his food choices... He says it isnt about what you can't eat - its about what you get to eat. Focus on the good foods that you get to eat! Nourishing salads with fresh vegetables, homemade vinaigrette - Fresh everything!!

When we started the farm I wasn't too focused on food choices - I was busy - super busy - and ate what was handy - sandwiches, pizza, cereal. ... And then I had Judah and was hungry all the time and gained more weight than I ever had... Being 46 didn't help, I'm sure.

Something drastic had to change and I started reading Beni Johnson's 40 Days to Wholeness book. I decided for me, I was going to try to go No Sugar - No Grains for the next 40 days. That was back in May 2019 and since then I have lost 30 lbs and feel stronger and better than I have in a while.

I've had days of ice cream and dark chocolate but that's about as bad as it gets.

I found a friend who works out with me - we are trying to go to the gym at least 3 mornings a week. I should have measured but I didn't but my clothes all fit again - some are loose - yay.

Its not as hard as it sounds -

I'm not all about counting calories and deprivation. I just try to eat whole, clean foods that I can pronounce. When the family wants BBQ I eat mine on a bed of spinach or mixed greens. I snack on fruit and cherry tomatoes. I eat bacon and an omelette just about every morning.

I had my blood tested after about 3 months in and my cholesterol was low - I needed more omega 3s but that was about the only improvement I could make.

I eat meat at least once a day - grassfed beef - usually for supper. I eat dairy and love fruit. I focus on fresh ingredients and would love to have a market garden.... Gary thinks this is impossible for me - but I let him know that just because I've failed the last 20 times doesn't mean I cant try again.

Maybe next year I will choose to weed and it will work!
